How to Deal with a Street Preacher:

OPTION 1: Walk away, you have no obligation to speak to them.

OPTION 2: If you talk to them, ask these questions:

• How long have you been involved?
• Are you trying to recruit me?
  • Some experienced members will claim that they “just wanna share some information with you,” call them out if they clearly are trying to recruit you as the conversation goes on.
  • Who is the leader(s)? Do they have a criminal record, especially with fraud? Name 3 things you don’t like about your leader(s)?
  • Have you ever asked these questions before joining your organization?
  • Can you summarize your beliefs for me in your own words?
    • Do not let them redirect you to a website or expert. Make sure they actually summarize their own beliefs.
  • How do you feel about former members of your group? And would you be willing to talk with former members?
  • Have you read critical literature about your organization before joining? And would you be willing to do so now?
