What are the Satanic Street Pirates?
The Satanic Street Pirates are a separate team of The Satanic Circle, in collaboration with a similar team at Atheists United, dedicated to reporting and removing illegal religious signs, Nazi propaganda, etc.
Do you remove religious signs from private property or commercial billboards?
No. We believe in religious freedom, so we respect the rights of others to put religious signs on their own properties or commercial billboards. We only allow removing religious signs from public property. If you are confused whether a sign is illegal or not, feel free to report it.
Do you remove religious memorials or graves that are on public property?
Mostly no. While some will be marked as "questionable legality," we will not remove most of them as it would be offensive and disrespectful.
Do you have any safety tips for me if I decide to participate?
Yes. We do not recommend ripping down signs at night. We also recommend wearing a safety vest to decrease the likelihood of confrontation. Also, do not climb poles to remove signs, as your safety is not worth ripping down illegal signs. Finally, do not remove signs from private property, or vandalize commercial billboards.
Why is this movement necessary?
Illegal religious signs are not put up by accident. Their main purpose is to destroy independent thought and reinforce the religious movement's message. Propaganda only works when it is repeated constantly; that is why these signs appear along highways and other places where people might otherwise be left alone with their own thoughts. Instead of allowing reflection or personal freedom, they impose a constant reminder meant to pull passersby back into a rigid mindset.
Beyond shaping individual thought, these signs serve a broader agenda. They encourage religious nationalists by reinforcing the false narrative that America is, by design, a “Christian nation.” Each sign becomes another symbol of validation for those who want to destroy the seperation of church and state.
Finally, these signs create potential hazards. Many are printed in bright, distracting colors such as yellow, posing risks to drivers and road workers alike. In short, illegal religious signs are not only an infringement on personal freedom and public space but also a hazard to public safety.
