The gender-affirmation ritual is designed to celebrate thyself and declare your true identity to thyself and those around you. This ritual is also designed to destroy any stigma or shame surrounding your gender-identity. You may modify the ritual as you see fit. This version of the ritual can be conducted solo!
OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
- 1 Hoodie or robe
- 1 Fire-safe bowl or container
- 1 Lighter or match
- 1 Glass of water
- 2 Pieces of paper
- 1 Pen or Pencil
RITUAL STEPS:
- Put on your hoodie or robe and setup your space with the items.
- Write your deadname on the first piece of paper. Place both hands over it.
- Reflect on this deadname and how it was forced onto you. Imagine yourself shedding this deadname, and finally taking back control of identity.
- Wake up and scribble heavily over the deadname with your pen or pencil, before setting it on fire inside the fire-safe container.
- Grab the second piece of paper and write your new name on it.
- Recite the following: "MY NAME IS [YOUR NAME] AND I HAIL MYSELF! I AM WORTHY OF LOVE AND ACCEPTANCE! I SHED MYSELF OF ANY HATE AND BIGOTRY TOWARDS ME!"
- Drink a sip of your water, then recite: "I AM MY OWN GOD! MY NAME IS [YOUR NAME] AND I HAIL MYSELF!"
- Take one more sip of your water, leaving more in the cup, then recite: "I HAVE SHED MYSELF OF MY DEADNAMES AND HATE! HAIL SATAN!"
- Hold the paper with your true identity to your heart, then pour your cup of water over the fire.
- Finally, recite: "It is done. Hail Satan!"
- Quickly pull off your hoodie or robe to reveal your true self!
